Celebrating 40 years of a perfect baking partnership

Invicta has many longstanding customers but one of its oldest is the Bondgate Bakery based in Otley.

This year, the renowned Yorkshire bakery is celebrating 40 years in business and it has been using Invicta products since it baked its first loaf of bread back in 1984.

The bakery was set up by Steve and Sally Taylor with the conviction of baking bread ‘the way it used to be’ and they utilised many recipes from Steve’s grandmother that are still lovingly made in the bakery today. Indeed the bakery remains totally committed to producing traditional bread using locally sourced, untreated flours.

“Over the years, most of our products have come from Invicta,” said Sally (pictured). “This has included bread tins, sheets, cake tins, racks, cooling wires, flan rings, and stainless steel tables – the list is endless. In fact, we are still using some of the products we bought 40 years ago. What better recommendation is there than that!!

“The friendly and helpful service we get from Invicta is exceptional and their products are always the best quality at a fair price. No job is too small or too large, which is important for an independent business such as ours.

“We have also commissioned a number of bespoke products, such as the flan rings used to produce our flagship quiches. These are unique in size and depth and it is important that we are able to source our specific size needs.”

Here at Invicta, we are delighted to have been part of the Bondgate Bakery’s success and it has been wonderful to see it establish itself as one of the UK’s leading bakers; winning countless awards along the way such as Best Small Baker in the BBC Food and Farming Awards, Best Baker in the Farm Shop and Deli Awards and finalist in the Yorkshire Post Taste Awards.
